My father first introduced me to golf when I was a young boy. I took golf lessons during Jr. High School and I come from a family of golfers. We’re a very competitive family as well. Cards, Dice, Bags, or Golf, we always have a competition going on while enjoying our beverage of choice. Every year a group of us would travel to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama. If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend it. We always went in March because at that point we were all tired of the Minnesota winters that never seem to end. It was a 4-day trip golfing 36 holes each day. Singles games in the morning and best-ball teams in the afternoon. It was always a blast but tough to recover when we got back home.
Like the other co-founders, I was introduced to the game of Anamules at Mike’s vacation course. It was a whirlwind when we first started. I had 5 Anamules after the 2nd hole which awarded me the privilege of being Zookeeper and wouldn’t you know, the beverage cart awaited us on hole #3. Was it a setup? Maybe… but it didn’t matter, I was hooked from thereon. I tried taking my time and calculating my next shot which earned me the nickname “Gladys”. I didn’t mind that so much since it was my grandmother’s name, but from then on it was “come on Gladys take your shot”… You see, Anamules strips away the pressure of always trying to hit good shots because it doesn’t matter. Hit a good shot, great. Hit a hazard shot, even better — get an Anamule and let the good-natured bantering begin. Let’s face it, most of us aren’t playing for millions of dollars, so go out, have fun, smile and laugh. That’s what this game is all about.
I’ve spent my career in IT Services and when Mike introduced me to the game and the idea of building an App for it, all that came next was: “I’m in, let’s do it”. From there the vision to bring Anamules to the world was born and is now a reality. We hope you enjoy the game as much as we do!
